gyorgyigabor, 10.03.2012, 18:43 Uhr 14.03.2012, 11:32 UhrI cycled this ascent in 2009 and I have to say: it should be a place between the 10-15 best / most wondeeful paved ascents of the Alps that goes above 2000m.
My video can be found here:

At the end: undisturbed, beautiful nature: not much more wonderful nature can be imagined !

Very nice video, beautiful landscape and Vangelis ;-)
Greetings from Uwe -
gyorgyigabor, 12.03.2012, 00:17 Uhr 14.03.2012, 11:32 Uhr auf TicinoBergler46Hello Klaus,
In the previous conversation (komments here) I wrote this. Based on the video there are another reasons to visit it.
the top 15 most beautiful ones. AS you know, it depends on the weather too. For example there can be 3-5 others where I had bad weather and so I don't consider as SO beautiful, but by superb weather it should be. Another thing for me: the low traffic. If the landscape is wonderful, but the traffic is too busy, than I may won't consider to be between the best 15.
Few examples to consider between the 15 most wonderful ascents (most above 2000m, because I was / am motivated to visit them).
without ranking them (only the 1st is sure !):
the TOP: Roque de los Muchachos (La Palma)
- Tenerife, Teide plateau (equal which direction, but maybe from NE - through La Esperanza forest
- Colle / Passo Nivolet: calm, show, lakes, sperpentines...
- Tauernmoossee
- maybe Zirknitztal / Grosssee
- Col de l'Iseran (one of my favourites)
- Plan du Lac
- Col du Galibier
- Presa de l'Lauset (Pyrenées)
- Passo dello Stelvio
- Kaunertal (maybe)
- it should be Grossglockner strasse (But too busy as I know - I visited 14 years ago...)
- Passo Gardena
- Männlichen
- Oberläger (although the lower half I cycled in rain and cycling above I think it shoudd be wonderful by great weather)
- Bettmeralp
- Alpe Galm
- Sustenpass (I cycled in rain, so I don't know, but as I saw pictures...) - I hope to return there this year.
- Rifugio Auronzo
- A. Bozzi hütte / Monte Piana: it is North from the Lago di Misurina, starts there. It was closed, but I had to cycle it :-). I wonder / don't know if this climb could be added to the quaeldich collection or not. The ascent that I cycled was damaged, that was the reason why it was closed, but the other, where I descended was OK, but half of it was gravel - and there I met with a car. So maybe that version could be cycled.) Few pictures can be found at the last 14 pictures of this collection:

- Cirque Troumouse (Pyrenées) - My weather wasn't ideal, but it showed it could be great!
- Mangart saddle (Slovenia)
- Col du Tourmalet (?)
What's your opinion ? What can you add to them / suggest to visit by better weather, that may change my opinion ?
:-)
Best regards,
Gabor -
gyorgyigabor, 12.03.2012, 00:19 Uhr 14.03.2012, 11:32 Uhr auf UweThanks, Uwe. I cycled there in 2009 and I haven't seen my video for 2 years. When I was editing this, I realiyed how beautiful it was ! So I also enjoyed "returning there" during editing and later watching it. :-)

TicinoBergler46, 12.03.2012, 23:11 Uhr 14.03.2012, 11:32 UhrGabor,
55 years ago my father went with me up by ski to my first 3000m peak, the Stubacher Sonnblick, passing by the Tauernmoossee the day after.
Therefore I am dreaming of this ascent anyway.
Regards
Klaus
P.S. could you provide us the 10-15 top beauties? -
Uwe, 13.03.2012, 17:47 Uhr 14.03.2012, 11:32 Uhr auf TicinoBergler46Hallo!

Monte Grappa
Bettmeralp
Moosalp/Stalden
Giw
Lai da Vons doppio
Naret
Alpe di Cava

So you see some overlap.

gyorgyigabor, 13.03.2012, 23:05 Uhr 14.03.2012, 11:32 Uhr auf TicinoBergler46Unfortunately on Sanetsch I had mainly cloudy weather (snow there 2 days earlier), so I don't know how beautiful really is; the view wasn't undisturbed.
Grappa: that's legend is, that I miss and hope to visit this year.
Lai da Vons.... hm... I reached the top in dark..... :-)
Naret: the same as Sanetsch: partly cloudy and short rain, so .... I saw your great autumn pics, but nevertheless for me it isn't between the bests, also it's (could be) beautiful.
Breitenfeld.... - I checked it: nice.
Anarosa: I checked the sunny pics, but for me it is similar to Fideiser Heuberge, so not between the beasts although it could be nice. -
gyorgyigabor, 13.03.2012, 23:17 Uhr 14.03.2012, 11:32 Uhr auf Uweit's interesting to read / check other's favourites to show great climbs that we don't know. :-) About 8 years ago I looked through the pages of Virtual Alps ( http://www.aukadia.net/alps/ ) : that gave me the first impressions about alpine ascents, what to see - if not only the height was important :-)
Calfeisental: I haven't heard about it, but as I checked - it's wonderful ! And it's interestimng to know that it was so close, when I cycled not far from it and slept in the camp of Chur.
Kunkelspass: another good choice - I haven't known it and it's romantic, interesting the section with tunnels... - Great!
Sertigtal (I haven't cycled it): it seems a little bit similar to Dischmatal (next valley) (expect the waterfall not so spectacular, but then the waterfall.... - another THANKS for your information, suggestion ! :-))
Best regards,
Gábor

Uwe, 14.03.2012, 11:32 Uhr auf gyorgyigaborHallo!
My first visit to Splügen was in a very hard rain and fog. It was raining cats and dogs, in the fog I could see nothing, but it was absolutely fascinating to be outdoors ;-)

TicinoBergler46, 02.10.2009, 10:31 Uhr 05.10.2009, 09:30 UhrHallo Torsten,
