helmverweigerer, 14.03.2014, 19:05 UhrHi PlemPlem
I've never been to the OM but I've ridden similar tours in the alps. Your setup ist almost the one a professional would choose. I strongly suppose you don't have the same climbing rates as professionals, thus this will end up in a very low cadence which is much harder for your legs. I always use 34/50 with 11-25, but I only weigh 60kg, so that is OK but for such a tough tour you will want even easier gearing. Go for 34/50 with 11-28 cassette, your actual setup will most probably end up in a disaster.

Your comment makes a lot of sense! You have basically confirmed what I was told and I suspected already.
Safe cycling!

Enjoy the Oetzi!
I have been (un)fortunate with an entry to the 2014 Oetztaler Marathon. I normally ride with 39/53 Chainrings and a 11-25 cassette but was advised to possibly change to a 34/50 Chainrings with compact cranks and a 11-28 cassette to allow for additional some climbing variety.
Are there any OM veterans out there who could forward some advice or comments?
Cheers
